Moldova signs agreement with Germany on cooperative development projects

Moldova and Germany signed an agreement in Berlin last week on development cooperation during Prime Minister Iurie Leanca's meeting with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

Under the agreement, the two sides will establish the prerequisites for conducting projects on water supply and waste water treatment in rural areas, modernization of public services and creation of high quality national infrastructure.

The two sides also discussed bilateral cooperation, Moldova's relations with the European Union and regional developments.

"Fourteen days after the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union, Moldova's ties with Germany and the European Union were the basic subject of our meeting," Steinmeier said. "By signing this agreement we will have a more intense collaboration in the development sector."

Leanca said Moldova also wanted to further develop its relations with Germany in several fields.

"German assistance programs are carried out successfully in various areas of cooperation, including public administration, health, energy efficiency, agriculture," Leanca said.
