Armenia discusses reforestation programs

Prime minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, met with the board of trustees of the Reforestation and Forestry Development Fund on Wednesday.


The fund's performance over the past year was discussed, and the fund's executive director, Yuri Javadyan, gave an overview of scheduled plans for 2015. 

 
Among the plans for 2015 is the continuation of the development of 51 hectares at the Erebuni Division and the planting and fencing of 35 hectares at three locations: Artsvaberd Forestry in Tavush Marz, Gyumri Forestry in Shirak Marz and Chambarak Forestry in Gegharkunk. There are also projects in forest development at several Hayantar SNCO sites being carried out. 


In the course of the meeting, the board of trustees approved several items that included the estimates of administrative costs, staffing and other related reports. 


Closing the meeting with the fund's trustees, Abrahamyan issued instructions to applicable authorities to ensure that reforestation and other forest development projects move forward.
