Authorities from the Lipetsk Oblast in Russia and Belarus hope to sign an agreement that would increase relations between the two, the Belarus Trade Ministry said Friday.

Delegates from Russia visited the Belarusian Agrian Technical University, the Belarus Health Ministry and the Russian Federation Office of Trade Promotion during their visit. Areas of cooperation discussed included enhancements in trade, scientific, economic and technical cooperation.

Specifically, the two sides discussed the purchase of transport vehicles from Belarus and building a water park in Lipetsk using equipment and specialists from Belarus in accordance with a project from the World Bank.

The ministry reported that trade with Russia totaled $325.4 million in 2014, a rise to 20th from 27th among Belarus's trade partners. Officials hope to continue the growth that has been made over the past three years.
