ADB, NBKy continue cooperative talks

The National Bank of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan (NBKy) announced on Monday that bank officials met with Asian Development Bank (ADB) representatives.


The main topic was the implementation of the ADB-Kyrgyz partnership strategy for 2016 through 2018. The two sides also discussed ongoing projects that the ADB has undertaken in the Kyrgyz Republic, including development in energy, water supply and road infrastructure.


The ADB representative, Gulkair Tentievoy, introduced a document from the international bank that laid out a strategic plan for developing the country's economic and investment prospects. It entails how the priorities of ADB Assistance are made by determining needs of the country and what gaps should be addressed by this cooperative plan.


Representatives from the NBKy repeated their interest in developing the microfinance sector, Islamic products and assistance in the development of a legal framework for cooperative banks' operation. Both sides discussed the training of NBKy employees to handle risk-based supervision in relation to microfinance.
