Tri-national robotics collaboration announced

The Belarus State Science and Technology Committee announced Tuesday that it plans to work with scientists from Japan and Korea in developing robotic technology.

According to committee Chairman Alexander Shumilin, robots used in manufacturing limit the chances for flaws and mistakes made by human error.

“Robots never make errors and therefore there will be no product flaws," Shumlin said. "Apart from that, there is a huge market for robots. The number of robots doubles every two years. Automation and robotics will become our priority directions for the next five-year term.”

Robotics includes software development, mechanics, parts manufacturing and hydraulic or pneumatic systems. Shumlin said there is interest from Japanese and Korean scientists to collaborate on innovations in these and other areas.

The announcement was made during the 18th Automation and Electronics 2015 Exposition, which continues through Friday in Minsk.
