In a contest co-sponsored by the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, Anton Vasilevsky, chief specialist at the Center for Strategic Development and Economic Research, won first place for his scientific article on the valuation of banks, the bank said on Tuesday.
The article, "Hybrid Method of Valuation of Banks and Its Application to the Analysis of Sales Performance of Belarus Banks," goes into great detail on the transaction process for shares in banks within domestic and international markets, specifically in Russia and Ukraine.
The bank said the methodology used in Vasilevsky's thesis would likely be useful for banks and holding companies that are looking to increase their volume of business or improve banking processes through assessments on banks that have been or may be acquired.
The competition was co-sponsored by the Belarus Ministry of Education. The competition accepted scientific papers dealing with economics from undergraduate and graduate students at leading universities.
