In a visit to Belarus from Wolfram Maas, ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany, said there are many opportunities for the two countries to work together economically, including through trade.
He made his remarks during an address to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down.
His time spent in Belarus has led to increased positive bilateral relations between the two nations. He also said that while there is still work to be done, they are certainly on the right track. He emphasized the cooperation in trade and economic areas, and that Germany was ready for increased collaboration.
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 is a momentous event for Germans; it signifies the reunification of Germany and Europe after splitting of Europe after World War II and during the Cold War. The wall was set up as an "anti-fascist" barrier by the communist controlled German Democratic Republic (GDR).
