A group of board directors from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will spend four days touring Belarus from Sept. 22-26.
Towns such as Smorgon, Fanipol and the capital Minsk are on the agenda. EBRD board members in attendance represent nations from across the globe, including Sean Donlon representing Ireland, Denmark, Kosovo and Lithuania; Antonio Oporto representing Spain and Mexico; and Eddy Azoulay representing Israel, Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Kazakhstan and Bosnia.
During the trip, delegates will meet with national and regional leaders from Belarus, as well as foreign investors, to discuss the development of social and political constructs in the country.
As a major investor in Belarus, EBRD's visit marks even further interest in the country's economic and social future. As of Sept. 1, EBRD has loaned 1.5 billion euros to the development of 66 projects in the country. Of this amount, 883 million euros have been invested in the last five years.
