More than 200 academics and experts in geology attended an international academic and technical conference Aug. 18 at the Tashkent’s Poytakht Business Center.

The conference on the "Integration of Science and Practice as a Mechanism of Effective Development of Geological Sector of Uzbekistan" was organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Geology and Mineral Resources as well as the Scientific Research Institute of Mineral Resources, and the Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology.

Participants learned about the opportunities in the expansion of Uzbekistan’s mineral and raw materials base. Emphasis was placed on pressing issues in applied geology, and scientific and academic-methodological observations during the search and assessment of deposits of strategic vital minerals.

Panel sessions included discussing cooperation in science and practice, consolidation of partnerships with leading foreign scientific research institutions, prospecting and evaluation of strategically important types of minerals, and technological research in geology.
