ADB to fund Azerbaijani program to improve roads

The Azerbaijani government signed a loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank on Tuesday for the development of a program aimed at improving roads in the country.

The initiative, which provides for the construction of four bridges on the Aghstafa-Poylu-Sadigli border of Georgia and on the Poylu-Duzgishlagh-Gazakh highways, will be financed by the ADB as part of a previously approved finance package. In total, $45 million will be allocated to the project.

During the meeting between Azerbaijani and ADB officials, the two parties discussed areas of previous successful cooperation between the two parties. They also spoke on the importance of water, transport and other infrastructure projects and the possibility of expanded cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ADB.
