Connectivity to be focus of ADB's annual meeting

The Asian Development Bank announced on Monday that it will hold the 47th annual meeting of its board of governors on May 2-5 in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The meeting will be open to approximately 3,000 participants, including finance ministers, central bank governors, business leaders, investors, journalists and civil society representatives from around the world. The theme of the 2014 meeting is "The Silk Road - Connecting Asia with the Changing World." Discussions will focus on the connection between improved regional connectivity and higher growth in Central Asia.

ADB's meeting will feature a debate among high-profile speakers about Asia's economic outlook. The debate will be hosted by and televised on CNBC.

The governor's seminar will focus on the lessons learned from recent financial crises and methods for reducing economic and financial vulnerability in the region. The ADB will also highlight the leveraging of fiscal policy to stimulate more inclusive growth.

Attendees will discuss ideas for a post-2015 development agenda that extends beyond the Millennium Development Goals.
