Mitov appointed as UniCredit chief economist for CEE

UniCredit announced Monday it has appointed Lubomir Mitov as the chief economist for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) effective March 2.

Mitov will lead the UniCredit's macroeconomics research team for the region. Prior to this appointment, Mitov served as a senior economist for the Institute of International Finance in Washington, D.C.

"Mitov is a highly respected economist for the CEE region with a long and distinguished track record," UniCredit Global Chief Economist Erik Nielsen said. "He is well-known to CEE-focused investors around the world for his experience, network and insights. In his new role, he'll help us further expand our research capabilities across the CEE region, thereby continuing to meet our clients' increasing needs."

Mitov said he is looking forward to working with the UniCredit team, stressing the importance of understanding CEE and the interests of UniCredit's clients.
