Armenian Prime Minster Hovik Abrahamyan's cabinet approved three measures Thursday in support of the country's agricultural production.
The three measures will extend state programs that support corn, spring barley and alfalfa production. The government of Armenia has proved that developing the farming sector is a top priority with these programs.
They have also made it possible for farmers to purchase necessary items like diesel fuel and different fertilizers at reasonable prices. Diesel would cost approximately 73.5 cents (US) per liter of fuel, approximately $12.59 per bag of nitrogen-based fertilizers, and $14.69 per bag of phosphate and potash fertilizers.
Cabinet members also discussed items that should be prohibited or restricted by transportation and customs authorities, and agreed to amend an earlier decision to better safeguard and improve preparedness efforts against potential disease outbreaks, specifically of the Ebola virus.
