Uzbekistan officials are seeking to become an upper-middle income country by 2030, according to a Monday report from the World Bank.

To achieve this end, officials say the government will need to implement measures in education and skill development programs and allow businesses to flourish within the economic landscape.

In its report, the World Bank set goals for finance and business policies and recommendations for how Uzbekistan can facilitate skills growth among its citizens. The World Bank made these recommendations with guidance from the Skills Toward Employability and Productivity framework.

To start, children need high-quality education in all stages of life, including learning skills in early childhood. The report also calls for a modern curriculum for all students, and instruction by highly qualified teachers who have completed training programs.

Officials also aim to encourage entrepreneurs and innovators by providing Uzbekistan students access to quality education in colleges and universities. The program's final goal is to connect the available supply of skilled workers with companies that need individuals who have those skills.
