Belarus plans to have 178 events for startups in 2015

The Economy Ministry of Belarus said on Tuesday that it has approved a plan that will encourage startups.

The plan will involve creating a network of schools that specialize in startups and host 178 contests for innovative business projects that are set to take place in Minsk throughout the year.

The ministry said it has been developing plans to encourage startups since 2012. The process involved interaction between the Belarusian Economy Ministry, oblast executive committees, the Minsk City Hall and the organizations that prepare and hold start-up events.

The ministry is working with organizations that aid and support startups and entrepreneurs.

Startups and small- and medium-size enterprises are gaining traction in many parts of the world and many governments are lending financial support to these kinds of enterprises.
