The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said Monday that it will resume working with Ukraine to improve its economy.
Discussions would center on the economic reform program supported by the IMF to stabilize the country's financial situation and to restore growth in its economy. A team from the IMF will be starting this work on Jan. 8 in Kyiv, immediately after the Orthodox Christmas holiday season.
The mission is likely to conclude by the end of January.
Earlier in December, IMF First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton visited Ukraine and said he was impressed with Ukrainian attitudes and willingness to work toward economic reform to stabilize the economy. Lipton met with high-ranking officials, including Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Minister of Economy Aivaras Abromavicius, Minister of Finance Natalie Jaresko and the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, Valeriia Gontareva.
