A delegation from Belarus attended the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) Eurasia Week in Paris last week.
The week-long string of conferences and networking opportunities aims to facilitate growth and competitiveness among Eurasian countries. The OECD has been working to implement its Eurasia Competitiveness program since 2008. Member nations include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and several others. The Belarus embassy in France helped facilitate Eurasia Week.
Participants discussed issues that are affecting implementation of the program. Cornerstones of the program include developing better business opportunities and improving the business climate. A big topic was the need for anti-corruption legislation and measures to boost integrity among member nations.
The Belarus delegation's leader, Deputy Economic Minister Dmitry Krutoi, made a presentation on the state of diversification in the marketplace and the avenues businesses can take to establish themselves in markets. He also talked aobut the issue of finding investments. In a meeting with Eurasia Competitiveness Program Project Manager Daniel Quadbeck, the duo discussed further cooperation between the OECD and Belarus.
