Visiting Microsoft exec praises growth in Armenia's IT industry

Hovik Abrahamyan, prime minister of the Republic of Armenia, welcomed Marc Dey, Microsoft's director for cooperation with government, on Monday.

The meeting is part of the nation's effort to connect with information-technology (IT) companies to improve the sector in Armenia. The prime minister noted that the country had made great strides in the development of its IT sector through government-funded projects and cooperation with companies such as Microsoft.

“We already have some joint achievements. The Microsoft Innovation Center has promoted the application of new ideas and the formation of start-up companies in our country,” Abrahamyan said.

Dey was impressed with the progress the country has made in developing its IT industry.

“Armenia has won international recognition for its achievements in the IT sector and, for this very reason, many countries are eager to learn your know-how,” Dey said.

At the meeting, both sides agreed that further cooperation would be beneficial.
