Armenian government aims to develop communication, IT sector

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan led a discussion with business leaders on developing the nation's communication and information technology sector.

This particular sector in Armenia's economy has great potential for growth. The prime minister also said his administration was prepared to provide any support it can to help train future workers in the field of communication and information technology, as well as develop related programs.

As part of this support, the prime minister said students can get training in micro-electronics and telecommunication through specialized courses in highly specialized secondary schools. He said the proper equipment and highly qualified teachers should be available in these schools.

These measures aim to produce a work force that is highly skilled in information and communication technology, and the venture is one in which representatives from private enterprise would be willing to invest.
