Minsk pays $2.4B in export duties to Russia

In the first nine months of 2014, Belarus has paid $2.4 billion in export duties to Russia the Eurasian Development Bank announced Oct. 31.

A shortage occurred when notable large refinery Naftan halted production while it received repairs. The increase in sales of automobile fuel from Belarus to Russia also contributed to the drop in the amount of money paid for export duties.

The country paid $3.30 billion in 2013 and $3.85 billion in 2012. It was also announced that Belarus will continue export duties through 2015.
