Putin, Lukashenko discuss international partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko discussed trade and economic cooperation over the phone on Tuesday.

After meeting in Minsk on Oct. 10 with other Commonwealth of Independent States' heads of state, Putin and Lukashenko  discussed the termination of the Eurasian Economic Community after 14 years and the admittance of Armenia to the Eurasian Economic Union.

Putin told Lukashenko that the Eurasian integration process was making new progress, but there is more to do.

“I would like to point out that the integration process is reaching a new level, although we still must do a great deal to ensure the newly created Eurasian Economic Union ... (achieves) capacity operation and the people of our countries feel the real return from the efforts we exert,” Putin said.
