Belarus, France create commision for economic cooperation

Belarusian Ambassador to France Pavel Latushko and Cyrille Pierre, the director of the French Office of the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, signed an agreement in Paris on Tuesday to create a joint commission for economic cooperation.

The commission will determine economic priorities and promote economic relationships between the two countries. Members will include ministry representatives and other agencies in economic sectors. The first meeting will occur in Minsk.

Belarusian Vice Prime Minister Piotr Prokopovich and French Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Matthias Fekl attended the signing ceremony.

They held separate talks to discuss economic and investment cooperation, including Belarusian-French trade and joint efforts to create bilateral economic ties, as well as the status of multiple projects undertaken by both countries. They both expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in such fields as industry, agriculture, energy, banking, health care and tourism.
