Tajikistan inflation rate drops 0.7 percent

Inflation in Tajikistan dropped during the month of August by 0.7 percent compared to the same period last year, according to an announcement made by the country's national bank on Monday.

The National Bank of Tajikistan reported that the inflation rate for January through August 2014 was at 5.4 percent, down from the 6.7 percent inflation rate over the past 12 months. For consumers, this means that their money goes a little bit further and they can get more for their money.

The refinancing rate, perhaps one of the most important instruments for monetary policy in Tajikistan, remained stable from August to September at 5.9 percent. This is the rate that determines how much a mortgage holder’s interest rate or term of a mortgage changes without the mortgage holder putting new money into their loan.
