IAEA delegation to visit Belarusian nuclear power plant

A delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will visit the Belarusian nuclear power plant (BelNPP) on Oct. 14-16.

The visit is part of the IAEA's 2014-15 international technical assistance project on the development of human resources and infrastructure for nuclear power programs.

During their visit, the IAEA delegation will review the progress made on construction of the BelNPP plant, which is being overseen by the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant Company. It will also hold a seminar with company representatives on the commissioning of the station and the role of the operating organization in that process.

The BelNPP will feature two Russian-designed power-generating units with a total capacity of up to 2,400MW. The design is fully compliant with international standards and IAEA recommendations.

OAO NIAEP-ZAO Atomstroyexport, a publicly held Russian company, is the general designer and contractor for the construction project.
