National Bank of Ukraine releases loan extension information

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) released information on Monday regarding loan extensions, both to banks in the country and the Deposit Guarantee Fund.

In March, the bank had extended approximately $183.3 million to 15 banks with 30-day maturity times. PRIVATBANK was the recipient of approximately $93.2 million, given in order to stabilize it. Three additional banks received stabilization loans: Bank Finance and Credit received approximately $8.8 million, Platinum Bank received approximately $10.5 million and Bank Credit Dnepr received approximately $15.7 million.

The NBU states that the total amount of outstanding debt for financial institutions and the guarantee fund increased by an approximated $43.5 million, amounting to approximately $713 million of lent funds.

Last week, the NBU revoked the banking license of PROFINBANK due to the risky activities in which the bank was involved. The bank failed to improve its performance in line with NBU standards after multiple violations.
