Armenian prime minister meets with EDB

Armenian Prime Minister, Hovik Abrahamyan

Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan welcomed Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Board Chairman Dmitry Pankin on Tuesday to meet about expanding cooperation, including the possibilities of enhancing partnerships within infrastructure and investment projects.

The discussion also covered an overview of the current status of partnerships. Both sides expressed the importance of joint projects, and Pankin stated on behalf of the bank that they are ready to open discussions for future projects in the country.

During the meeting, a $150 million loan agreement was reached between Armenia and the EDB to fund construction of a road corridor project. Representing Armenia in signing this agreement was Minister of Transport and Communication Gagik Beglaryan.

In an earlier meeting, Abrahamyan opened discussion on development prospects in the national energy sector with regard to an analysis conducted by the World Bank.
