Turkish American Chamber of Commerce and Industry names Kocak president

The Turkish American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TACCI) announced on Tuesday that Ali Kocak is its new president, elected for a two-year term.

Kocak has a background in both academia and business, the chamber said. He is a professor of science at the City University of New York and has been a tenured faculty member at John Jay College of Criminal Justice since 2005. He previously spent many years working in industry, where he gained extensive managerial experience.

Kocac has also owned many businesses, including popular Turkish restaurant Turkuaz in Manhattan, and has been heavily involved in the export industry in several countries.

The new TACCI president has been active in Turkish community organizations and has served as president of the Society of Turkish-American Architects, Engineers and Scientists as well as vice president of the Federation of Turkish American Associations.

Kocac has been actively involved in TACCI since it was founded in 2002.
