Alexander Guryanov, the deputy foreign minister of Belarus, announced on Tuesday that the countries of Belarus and the Czech Republic are considering 15 joint projects in the energy sector.

The developments came following a plenary session of the Belarusian-Czech mixed commission on economic, industrial and sci-tech cooperation, BelTA reports.

Currently, Czech companies are constructing hydroelectric power plants in Belarus, the costs of which exceed $34 million. The construction of a logistics center was also recently completed with the help of a Czech company.

The two parties are deciding on the construction of the project's second stage. Discussions have also been held on Czech participation in the modernization of the Belarusian railway and oil refineries, according to BelTA.

Last year, the Czech Republic invested a total of $63 million in the Belarusian economy. In January, Belarus increased its exports to the Czech Republic by 48 percent through such exports as farm machines and high-tech products, including optics.

The seventh session of the commission will be held next year in Prague, BelTA reports.
