National Bank of Tajikistan expanding ties with Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ

The National Bank of Tajikistan recently said that it is in close cooperation with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ to expand correspondent relations.

Representatives of both banks recently held discussions on correspondent relations and the granting of banking services.

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ is the largest bank in Japan, established on Jan. 1, 2006, with the merger of the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, Ltd., and UFJ Bank, Ltd. The bank serves as the core retail and commercial banking arm of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.

Its traditional client base consists of Japanese corporates, although overseas corporate lending increased 35 percent in 2011.

Headquartered in Tokyo, BTMU has 772 other offices in Japan and 76 offices overseas.
Its holdings include 100 percent of UnionBanCal Corporation, 9.66 percent of Chong Hing Bank, 22.41 percent of Morgan Stanley and 17.6 percent of Aberdeen Asset Management.
