Central Bank of Armenia holds conference on Warsaw Convention

The Central Bank of Armenia held a conference on the Council of Europe Convention on Laundering, Search, Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime and on the Financing of Terrorism (Warsaw Convention 2005) at its Training and Research Center on October 1-4.

Armenia currently holds the chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.

The conference was attended by 46 judicial, criminal and financial authorities from 28 countries - both member and non-members states of the Council of Europe.

The Warsaw Convention, aimed at combatting money laundering and the financing of terrorism, establishes measures for preventing crime, defining criminal prosecution and confiscation mechanisms, and establishing principles for internal and international cooperation.

Armenia signed the Warsaw Convention in 2005 and ratified it in 2008. It will monitor the implementation of the Warsaw Convention in 2014.
