Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan hosted a delegation from Iraq to discuss cooperative efforts between both countries on Saturday.

Both sides lauded the recent launch of air service between Iraq and Armenia via Iraqi Airways, Abrahamyan noted that this may foster improved cooperation, specifically in tourism sectors.

The Iraqi delegation was headed by Transport Minister Jaber Al-Zubaidi

The prime minister expressed his satisfaction of relations between both countries improving over the past few years and stated that the potential is there for future developments. Abrahamyan stressed that  intergovernmental business forums would greatly improve business ties between the two countries.

Al-Zubaidi stated that the Iraqi government was interested in bolstering economic and bilateral ties between Armenia and Iraq.

Both parties also discussed areas of mutual interest and areas where cooperation could be enhanced.

Abrahamyan and the Armenian government have been pursuing increased cooperation between members of the international community, receiving visitors and representatives from Sweden and the International Monetary Fund in February.
