BasisBank said on Thursday that a meeting was held between Director-General David Tsanava and Shota Murgulia, deputy governor for the Imereti Region, on opening up the bank's education funding to the region.

The Georgia bank said education funding is an area of social responsibility that the bank considers to be incredibly important.

Both parties discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the region and the banking institution.
BasisBank has been in operation since May 2013, and it has supported educational projects in the country. At the end of January, the bank awarded four students from Ilia State University approximately $1,494 in scholarship money for the university's Pascal Award after their research was published in a peer-reviewed publication. The bank also supports students financially by allowing them to attend conferences in their fields while they are in undergraduate or graduate programs.
