Cisco Systems discusses potential partnership in Azerbaijan

Representatives from Cisco Systems, Inc. met with Azerbaijan's Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ali Abbasov to discuss possible areas of collaboration, the U.S.–Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce reported Tuesday.

According to Cisco Vice President Jonathan Sparrow, many international companies are considering Azerbaijan as it expands and grows economically. He also said the company is willing to pursue broadband network expansion in the country and said they were ready to initiate a cooperative deal.

In their meeting, parties also discussed the country's current policies and procedures for information technology, high-tech fields and communications. There was also a presentation of Azerbaijan's current infrastructure and potential for developing a new platform, according to the Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency.

Cisco is based in San Jose, California, and focuses on the production and sale of networking equipment.
