Belarus, Moldova to strengthen agricultural ties

Delegations from Belarus and Moldova met Tuesday to discuss measures to strengthen agricultural ties between the two countries.

During the meeting in Chisinau, Moldova, officials from both countries focused on increasing trade opportunities for Belarus-produced mineral fertilizers and crop-protecting agents. Delegates also discussed the potential for opening the Moldovian-controlled port of Giurgiulesti to transport of these commodities.

Those talks followed a Monday trade meeting at the Belarus Embassy that included representatives from 20 Moldovian companies. Items transacted there included oil and gas products, fertilizers and petrochemicals.

The Belarus delegation was led by Belneftekhim Concern Chairman Vitaly Pavlov and included representatives from the Belarusian Oil Company, OAO Nattan, OAO Mogilevkhimvolokno, Belorusneft and OAO Mozyr Refinery. Moldova was represented by Minister of Agriculture and the Food Industry Vasile Bumacov and heads of the departments that fall under his ministry.
