NBKr hosts public forum on proposed new banking laws

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan (NBKr) recently hosted its first public discussion of draft laws that may impact the country's banking laws.

The drafts consisted of amendments and additions to specific legislative acts within the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. The amendments that were included in this discussion dealt with the laws governing transactions that are made in foreign currencies and efforts to counter financing of terrorist organizations and protocols in handling cases of profits obtained as a result of crime or by other illegal means.

The amendments also open the door to changes in the Kyrgyzstan Tax Code, specifically the exclusion of private exchange offices that take the form of a physical or legal entity, all of which are on a list regulated by the NBKr.

Leaders from the NBKr and other entities were in attendance.
