Armenian officials, execs discuss ways to boost energy sector

Representatives from Armenia's energy sector discussed proposals for improving energy infrastructure in a Saturday consultation hosted by Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

One of the main topics was what is considered the most cost-effective reform plan that has the support of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). After further discussion, it was decided that surveys would help officials in the next stages of energy enhancements in the country.

The Clean Energy and Water Project, which supports the enhancement of water and energy management in Armenia, has supplied financing and informational support to improve water and energy infrastructure in Armenia, specifically in rural areas. The project focuses on efficient lighting and heating systems, and the utilization of biological gas and solar energy.

USAID said it supports the country's regional integration and efforts to develop its economy in multiple sectors.
