IMF official impressed with Ukraine leadership's attitude

International Monetary Fund First Deputy Managing Director David Lipton said Saturday that he was impressed with Ukrainian leaders' attitude during his visit to the nation.

In a statement, he said he liked the officials' vision and their stated willingness to accept and implement reforms to help the country in its recovery. He said he will welcome an upcoming report from an IMF team that remained in Ukraine for further discussions.

“An IMF team conducting technical discussions is expected to conclude its work by the end of the coming week. A mission to conduct policy discussions in the context of the fund-supported program is expected to return to Kyiv early next year," Lipton said.

Participants of the Saturday meeting included Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Minister of Finance Natalie Jaresko, Minister of Economy Aivaras Abromacivius and Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeriia Gontareva.
