The seventh International Banking Conference of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) concluded its work in Baku, Azerbaijan, the International Bank of Azerbaijan said Monday.
A major theme of the conference was the unification of the Islamic financial infrastructure in the Caspian Sea region. Participants noted the potential for transit in the region as an avenue to pursue in creating a favorable atmosphere for development. This would include integrating infrastructure projects in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Europe, China and the Caspian Sea region with logistics and transport corridors.
The meeting's participants included Behnam Gurbanzadeh, JSC director of Islamic Banking; CIS Finance and Banking Council Deputy Director General Ahmed Gehremanov. Also in attendance were representatives from the Azovski Morskoy Port and PromEkoAlyans. The multitude of experiences represented by the participants provided the conference with a broad cross-section that learned what unifying Islamic finance would be like.
After the conference, attendees were able to explore the host city, Baku.
