Report: Uzbekistan-China economic, cultural relations flourish

Bilateral relations between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China (PRC) have flourished in 2014, a report released by the Uzbekistan government this week said.

The largest segments of cooperation have been in economic and business development, trade, science and technology research, and humanitarian bonds.

Increased trade between the two countries has improved economic conditions for both nations; both countries share the same level of willingness to interact. Approximately 500 joint ventures with Chinese investments have been set up in Uzbekistan.

In 2013 a bi-national high technology industrial park was set up, with over 15 projects and over $50 million in investments. A joint railway is under construction on both sides, and four lines of natural gas pipeline were approved to run through a portion of Uzbekistan.

Culturally speaking, the relationship between China and Uzbekistan has grown significantly as well. A Confucius Institute was built in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, the first in Central Asia, which aids education measures that support the interests of both countries.
