Churiy named market operations, government securities head

Oleh Churiy was appointed head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Office for Open Market Operations and Government Securities Allocation on Tuesday.

Since the beginning of his career in 1993, Churiy has shown promise in the banking industry. He has since held several management positions with multiple banks.

In a move for efficiency, the Department of Foreign Exchange and Open Market Operations was reorganized into its current form as the Office for Foreign Exchange Operations and Financial Market Analysis.

Bank Governor Valeriia Gontareva said the head of the office would need experience to be successful.

“Employment of the best specialists in the field is crucial for the efficient fulfillment of the central bank's mandate," Gontareva said. "I am convinced that the newly appointed head of the Office for Open Market Operations and Government Securities Allocation with his high professional expertise will prove instrumental in boosting the efficiency of public debt service operations and helping regulate liquidity in the banking system."
