Belengro, DENA to sign cooperation agreement

Energy agencies from Belarus and Germany are expected to sign an agreement that will increase cooperation for new projects during the 19th Belarusian Energy and Ecological Forum, which is going on through Friday in Minsk.

“Our German counterparts have been actively working with renewable energy resources. Their experience will (be) very useful (and) important for Belarus,” the country's First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenetssaid said on Tuesday.

The cooperation agreement between the Belarusian agency Belenergo and Germany's DENA agency is expected to improve energy efficiency and increase use of renewable energy in Belarus. The document outlines areas of cooperation, including development of joint proposals for new technologies in thermal and electricity supply, development of power grids and information sharing.

Training and qualifications of renewable energy specialists may also be included in the agreement.

In addition to the Belarusian-German Energy Forum, the Belarusian Energy and Ecological Forum includes an EnergyExpo exhibition, the ninth international exhibition Water and Air Technologies, and the Belarusian Energy and Ecological Congress.
