Peugeot, Citroen plant opening in Belarus

PSA Peugeot Citroen will open a production plant at the Unison Company's joint venture in Minsk District, Belarus, in November, Valentine Trigorlov, marketing director at Belarus' Peugeot importer PS Auto Group, said on Tuesday.

The plant's first cars will be rolled off the assembly line in November.

The company has plans to manufacture 2,000 to 2,500 cars in 2015. Initially, four Peugeot and two Citroen models will be produced for Belarusian customers only.

Trigorlov said local production in the country is expected to increase the market share for several brands – Peugeot, Citroen and DS – up to 12 percent by 2017.

Representatives of PSA Peugeot Citroen, Unison Company and PS Auto Group signed a license agreement regarding Peugeot and Citroen car production on Monday in Paris.
