Armenia PM meets with World Bank delegation

Armenia Prime Minister Hovik Abrahmyan and a World Bank delegation led by Henry Kerali, the regional director for the South Caucasus, discussed the pace of joint programs and other issues during a meeting on Friday.

“We wish to overhaul and boost cooperation with the World Bank by means of new joint programs,” Abrahamyan said of the 15 joint projects between Armenia and the World Bank.

Kerali assured Abrahmyan that the World Bank is interested in implementing new projects in Armenia.

The meeting included the introduction of Laura Bailey, the newly appointed World Bank country manager for Armenia.

Kerali said he is confident Bailey will promote and give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation on the basis of mutual trust and understanding. Abrahmyan said he hopes her experience and professional skills will intensify bilateral cooperation.

Additional highlights of the meeting included discussions of the World Bank-supported projects implemented in the fields of tourism and agriculture.
