Multinational transit corridor project discussed

A multinational transit corridor agreement between Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey was the subject of discussion at a meeting Monday in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Representatives of the five countries who met to discuss the project recognize the significance of this project, which presents multiple economic opportunities for the partners,  the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (USACC) said.
A large potential outcome of the transit corridor is the integration of Eurasian trade and fostering improved relations between the region.

Afghanistan is looking forward to the promotion of socio-economic revival with this international project being a starting point. The country hopes to involve itself with multiple international infrastructure projects.
The project is expected to promote further coordination between the five nations.
Turkmenistan also expressed interest in joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (TBK) railway project that will connect Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey. This project aims to transport cargo from China and Central Asia.
