Major contracts signed on Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz project

The consortium for the development of the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in Azerbaijan recently signed a $750 million contract with another consortium to fabricate jackets for two planned offshore programs.

BP announced that the contract with the second consortium, which consists of Star Gulf FZCO, Saipem Contracting Netherlands B.V. and BOS Shelf, LLC, will also support pin piles and subsea structures under the Shah Deniz-2 project. The project is being developed in the Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, Trend reports.

The contract includes construction of two single batter jackets weighing 12,300 and 13,400 metric tons and the fabrication of 2,300 subsea structures with a total weight of 30,000 metric tons.

All construction and fabrication work under the contract will occur at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan's Baku Deepwater Jacket Factory.

Participants in the development of the Shah Deniz field are SOCAR, BP, Norway's Statoil, Iran's NICO, French Total, Russia's Lukoil and Turkish TPAO.

The Shah Deniz consortium also recently awarded an estimated $394 million contract to FMC Technologies, Inc., for the supply of the subsea production systems, Trend reports.
