Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met on Tuesday with Harry Hendriks, the CEO of Royal Philips, to finalize details of the company's new regional office in South Caucasus.
Royal Philips decided to open the office in January after meeting with Bidzina Ivanishvili, the former prime minister of Georgia, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Philips Center Tbilisi will be focused on providing services, including energy-efficient lighting systems, innovative healthcare and consumer goods.
"Georgia is providing a very stable political climate and a very good investment climate," Hendriks said. "It is an excellent regional hub and we are very much looking forward to opening our regional center in Georgia, which will improve the people's lives by bringing healthcare, access to healthcare, as well as the energy efficient lighting of the country. I have read so many books and articles about the friendliness of Georgian people and the excellent hospitability that I have met in Georgia gave me a great feeling to be here."
Royal Philips, a Dutch multinational company, was founded in 1891. The company provides healthcare technology, lighting systems and household appliances. It employs 115,000 people in more than 100 countries.
