The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Bank Eskhata are lending $500,000 to Dilpisand, a Tajikistan food producer.
The company focuses on producing Tajik-style food, including mince pies and handmade dumplings, also called manti. It is a subsidiary of the Yakhmos Group. Dilpisand sells the food through its chain of cafes and bakeries. With this new funding, it will add 14 new locations.
"The EBRD has teamed up with Bank Eskhata to support the growth of successful companies like Dilpisand,” Nadia Petkova, a senior banker for agribusiness at the EBRD, said. “Our previous joint loan helped the company expand and win a larger share of the market. We are now looking forward to seeing Dilpisand become a leading, modern, fast-food chain, selling traditional products of very high quality.”
In the past year, the two financial institutions extended a loan to Dilpisand so that it could acquire quick-freezing equipment. These efforts will continue the banks' mission of supporting small- and medium-size businesses.
So far, the EBRD has invested $400 million in the Tajikistan economy through multiple projects in numerous sectors.
