Belarus exports to Czech Republic grow 34.2 percent

The Belarus ambassador announced that 2014 was a record year for exports to the Czech Republic.

According to Vasily Markovich's announcement, exports from Belarus to the Czech Republic grew 34.2 percent from the previous year with specific gains in oil-related products, unalloyed steel wires, and fertilizers among others.

“The Czech Republic moved up from 27th to 23rd position in the volume of Belarusian exports among Belarus’ trading partners. In 2014, export diversification totaled $534,300 versus 2013. Last year, the number of commodity items in the Belarusian exports included 259 positions, up 1,101 positions from 2009,” Markovich said.

Bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to approximately $540 million in 2014. Imports from the Czech Republic fell by nearly 17 percent, amounting to approximately $411.6 million. Imports largely consist of computing machines and motor vehicles.

"Imports largely depend on the investment projects implemented in Belarus with the participation of Czech companies," Markovich said. "Belarus imports a total of 664 commodity items from the Czech Republic.”
